Vertical integration allows Oil-Dri and Amlan to control every step of the production process, including following international standards and certifications, to consistently deliver high-quality natural feed additives to animal protein producers around the world.

High-Quality Manufacturing Standards

Our products are made to the highest industry standards for non-medicated feed additives and our quality systems are audited and certified annually by independent parties.

ISO-9001

This international standard provides a consistent framework to manage business for products that meet customer and regulatory requirements and ensure a philosophy of continual improvement. Our production plant quality management systems (QMS) increase our effectiveness and efficiency and help us ensure sustained customer satisfaction.

International Safe Feed/Safe Food

This voluntary and independently certified program establishes standards of excellence that go beyond existing regulations to maximize food and feed safety. It is a model program for feed and food professionals to achieve the goal of providing safe feed and food for customers and consumers.

HACCP Certification

The HACCP system used in the manufacturing of our products is certified by NSF International, an independent certification organization. We use modern hygiene controls at every stage of production that follow the HACCP approach consistent with EU regulations.

Ingredient Traceability

Identifying feed and food origins is necessary for consumer protection. We employ internal systems that can trace products back to their origins.

Halal Certification

Our feed additives only use ingredients which are AAFCO, FDA or EU approved for use in feed. This helps to secure the safety of the animal and, coupled with our manufacturing processes, brings us into compliance with certain human dietary standards such as halal.

Quarterly Testing

Independent analytical laboratories test our products each quarter to assure they comply with all known global feed additive regulations. Those findings are reviewed and published by an independent company.

Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI)

OMRI is an international nonprofit organization that determines which input products are allowed for use in organic production and processing. OMRI Listed^® products are approved to be used in certified organic operations under the USDA National Organic Program. We carry the OMRI seal on many of our products.

FAMI-QS

FAMI-QS is a certification created exclusively for specialty feed ingredients and their mixtures. We consistently meet the requirements set forth by FAMI-QS, and we have acquired certifications for all applicable products and production facilities where such products are manufactured.

Traceability: We Know Where Our Mineral Comes From

The traceability program maintained by Oil-Dri and Amlan allows us to track our clay mineral back to the exact pit where the raw material was mined. This information is then tied to the final product lot so that we can characterize the mineral all the way back to its original harvest from the mine.

Prospecting

Candidate mining areas are core-drilled and the samples are tested for key performance characteristics. We only mine areas that meet product performance requirements based on core-drill test results.

Mining

Truckloads of material that are brought from the mine to the plant are tracked along the way.

Processing

The mineral is processed on a work order that is tracked in our enterprise resource planning system.

Packaging

A packaging lot number is assigned to the finished products.

Shipping

The product is assigned to customer shipments by packaging lot number.

Healthy Animals Promote Sustainable Food Production

As producers continue to remove antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals from animal rations, they need to find natural solutions that help maintain animal health and performance. Amlan’s natural mineral-based products help support intestinal health and allow animals to maintain an optimum gut microbiome. Healthy animals are able to achieve their genetic potential for growth, which improves the economics of animal production.
